Project Engineer
At KLAREN Technology, a technology brand of Taprogge, we offer an innovative solution to solve medium to severe fouling in heat exchangers by continuously cleaning the tube side of shell-and-tube heat exchangers by a fluidized bed of cleaning particles. This unique technology helps clients worldwide reduce downtime by eliminating offline cleaning of heavily fouled exchangers. Because the heat exchangers stay clean and continue to operate at their design point, the technology also prevents substantial energy loss over time.
The KLAREN Technology is applied to both new and existing heat exchangers across industries such as heat recovery, water treatment, evaporators, and condensers. Solutions range from upgrade packages for existing exchangers to complete (skid-built) self-cleaning evaporator plants.
Your role
As Project Engineer, you work in a small team of dedicated experts in self-cleaning to support sales and service, realise projects, and to further develop the technology. It’s a versatile and hands-on role in which you are involved in projects from client’s specification to commissioning on site. In addition, you will actively contribute to the ongoing development and practical application of the KLAREN Technology.
You will assess customer requirements, design heat exchanger / evaporator layouts, select components, and monitor construction and installation. A significant part of the role takes place at customer sites, where you will guide commissioning, support inspections, and carry out minor maintenance together with service technicians. Alongside these activities, you will also contribute to internal development and testing projects to improve the technology and expand its applications.
The Project Engineer works a minimum of two days per week from the office in Barneveld during joint office days and the remainder of the week from home. For the function, it is required to regularly travel abroad for project execution, commissioning, and customer support.
Our hybrid working model allows you to combine working from home with regular in-office days when the whole team is present. In addition, the role involves regular international travel for project execution, commissioning, and customer support.
Key responsibilities
- Develop basic designs for self-cleaning heat exchanger technology and translate them into general layouts.
- Prepare detailed designs of the heat exchanger during project execution, applying internal standards and calculations.
- Assist in preparing datasheets for purchased items and support vendor selection.
- Monitor the construction of heat exchangers and installation on site
- Guide clients during commissioning and bring installations into operation (inside and outside Europe).
- Perform site inspections of heat exchangers and carry out minor maintenance in collaboration with service technicians.
- Contribute to research and testing projects aimed at improving the technology and developing new applications.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (specialization in Project Engineering, Energy Technology, or similar).
- 4–7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with process and/or installation calculations involving heat transfer between gas and liquid streams.
- Skilled in making, reading, reviewing, and assessing technical drawings.
- Motivated by working in an innovative environment and eager to contribute to its growth.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Independent, stress-resistant, and able to take responsibility—especially during commissioning activities.
- Hands-on mindset and not afraid to get your hands dirty.
- Willingness to travel and ambition to work on international projects.
