(Senior) Process Engineer
At KLAREN Technology, a technology brand of Taprogge, we offer an innovative solution to solve medium to severe fouling in heat exchangers by continuously cleaning the tube side of shell-and-tube heat exchangers by a fluidized bed of cleaning particles. This unique technology helps clients worldwide reduce downtime by eliminating offline cleaning of heavily fouled heat exchangers. Because the heat exchangers stay clean and continue to operate at their design point, the technology also prevents substantial energy loss over time.
The KLAREN Technology is applied to both new and existing heat exchangers across industries such as heat recovery, water treatment, evaporators, and condensers. Solutions range from upgrade packages for existing exchangers to complete (skid-built) self-cleaning evaporator plants.
Your role
As Process Engineer you work in a small team of dedicated experts in self-cleaning to support sales, realise projects, and to further develop the technology. It’s a versatile role in which you are involved in projects from client’s specification to commissioning on site, and in which you will go into depth to continue the development of the KLAREN technology.
To support sales, the Process Engineer assesses the customer specification and translates this into a basic process design for either a self-cleaning upgrade of an existing heat exchanger, a new system or a complete evaporator plant including the KLAREN self-cleaning heat exchanger technology. Based on the basic design a cost will be calculated which will be included in commercial offers. In case of an order, the process engineer will be taking the lead in the detail process design of the project.
In addition, the Process Engineer is involved in internal development projects to further expand the capabilities of Taprogge in the field of self-cleaning. This can take the form of focusing on a complete field like water treatment using evaporation and crystallization, or on component optimisation.
Our hybrid working model allows you to combine working from home with regular in-office days when the whole team is present. In addition, the role involves occasional international travel for customer meetings and plant commissioning, typically a few times per year.
Key responsibilities
- Engineer basic designs based on the self-cleaning technology.
- Prepare detailed process designs, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, control concepts, and process safety studies.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Provide technical support to the project team during plant construction and execution.
- Support plant commissioning and lead performance evaluation activities.
- Conduct development projects, specifically in evaporation, crystallization and the self-cleaning heat exchanger technology.
- Expand application areas and create case studies to demonstrate system performance and capabilities.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (specialization in process engineering, energy technology, fluid dynamics, or similar).
- 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in plant design and thermal calculations.
- Motivated by working in an innovative environment and eager to contribute to its growth.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Able to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and take responsibility—especially during commissioning of new plants.
- Willingness to travel and ambition to work on international projects.
What we offer
At Taprogge, you will find a challenging and rewarding position with a competitive salary. You will be involved in both the further development of our technology and the design and realization of international projects across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
After an initial training period, you will take ownership of your own projects—covering engineering, procurement, project management, and direct customer interaction. You will work in a supportive, international team where your ideas and initiative make a real impact.
